Partnership for Social and Solidarity Economy

Partnership for Social and Solidarity Economy

is a Green Network of Activist Groups’ (ZMAG) project implemented in cooperation with the Swiss partner - the Chamber for Social and Solidarity Economy of Geneva, and Croatian partners - the Cities of Ludbreg and Pregrada. The project is funded through the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Program implemented by the Office for Cooperation with NGOs of the Government of the Republic of Croatia through the call Strengthening Croatian-Swiss Partnerships for Local Socio-Economic Growth and Development.

ZMAG develops and introduces economic models based on social solidarity and responsibility for strengthening sustainable local development and promoting Good Economy.

Partnership for Social and Solidarity Economy is a project that strengthens sustainable local development of two Croatian cities, Ludbreg and Pregrada. The project contributes to the achievement of seventeen UN Sustainable Development Goals and, through the support and knowledge transfer of the Swiss partner, actively promotes and advocates the Social and Solidarity Economy in Croatia.

The Cities of Ludbreg and Pregrada are becoming examples of good practice in implementing the Social and Solidarity Economy in Croatia.

Through the exchange of knowledge and experiences with partners, Good Economy solutions for practical application that meet the needs of the local population are jointly created. Based on these solutions, models of good practice that strengthen the capacities of local communities to manage sustainable economic and social development are developed. As a result of the project, the developed models are being applied in Ludbreg and Pregrada, which thus become examples of good practice in implementing the concepts and values of the Social and Solidarity Economy in Croatia.

The purpose of the project is to respond to the challenges faced by local authorities in providing quality of life and well-being for their citizens, including stronger cohesion and citizen involvement, safer community, improved health and well-being, addressing exclusion and promoting diversity, strengthening the local economy (jobs), efficient public services and ensuring environmental sustainability (resources, housing, transport). The great potential for generating a series of positive changes and creating the necessary synergies for sustainable social and economic development lies in cross-sectoral cooperation between civil society organizations, local authorities, public institutions and the private sector, and using the concept and values of Social and Solidarity Economy.

The Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) includes a wide range of practices that encompass the economic, social, environmental, political and communicational dimensions. SSE is a growing movement that wants to initiate transformative changes in order to increase the overall social development and quality of life of people, and it is led by active citizens who want systemic change and a society that serves both people and the planet. SSE is a movement rooted in local initiatives that are increasingly globally networked and operate in a broad political framework based on solidarity, equality, human rights, community and cooperation.
